We are a small, family based kennel out of the Chicago land area dedicated to helping the American Pit Bull Terrier reclaim its name & reputation as an American icon, despite what the media would lead you to believe. Pit bulls have been an intricate part of my life since I was 13 years old & had adopted my first pit, Sin-bad. He was a tall fawn & white muscular family dog who taught me the importance of a well trained obedient pet. I fondly recall every time my little cousin would come over, Sin-bad would get the leash from the back porch, & bring it over to my 6 year old cousin on his own so she would walk him. Ever since Sin-bad, all I have ever wanted were pitbulls & had them ever since. As time past & I have gotten older, I began to understand the predicament the American Pit Bull Terrier was in. I started reading more about the breed & discovered that even in their early years these dogs were never known for being people aggressive. & If in fact one were to bit a handler during a dog fight, it would be culled on the spot. Handlers were able to swap dogs & pull them apart without fear of being on the receiving end of a snarl. The American Pit Bull Terrier is an all around awesome breed that is very loyal & protective to its family. They (not unlike other large breed dogs) need an experienced, well trained handler to ensure they are brought up with a good amount of socialization & obedience training allowing them to become well balanced members of the canine community. APBT’s are extremely smart, energetic, playful dogs that need to keep busy & do best when given an outlet for their energy as they are in fact, working dogs.

Here at Colossus pits we are not just interested in selling you a puppy. We are interested in knowing you have obtained a life long friend to love, protect, & grow old with you. We are passionate, serious breeders that have bred for numerous years to achieve a pit with great temperament, working ability & size. Our puppies are bred with a lot of love, & are socialized from day one. My partner & I have named our kennel after Colossus, one of our APBT, because he is the prime example of what we look for in an American Pit Bull Terrier. We are a kennel interested in Pits that are of the taller variety, yet stocky & have great bone structure with the ability to work, as well as place in conformation competitions. Colossus’ pups possess all of the above qualities & then some. If you have any doubt we can provide you with contact information so you can ask any of our satisfied customers for yourself. Colossus was named after one of the X-men, which means something enormously large & powerful.
